Alberta Advantage Immigration Program - Rural Renewal Stream

About

A collaborative, community-driven solution for businesses and industry seeking to fill labour needs.

Many rural businesses are challenged and constrained by the need of skilled labour and human capital in a multitude of industries, Mayerthorpe is no exception.

On September 22, the province officially recognized the Town of Mayerthorpe as a Designated Community under the Rural Renewal Stream of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).

This Alberta initiative aims to address current labour needs and skill shortages in rural areas, particularly in the hospitality industry and skilled trades. The community-driven approach, involving multiple local agencies, ensures that supports are in place for newcomers, boosts the local economy, and contributes to the growth of the community.

Now that Mayerthorpe has its designation, we will begin to work with employers to attract, recruit and retain newcomers to Mayerthorpe. With the guidance of the Rural Renewal Stream, Mayerthorpe Economic Development will assist by evaluating and endorsing employers, reviewing job seekers applications and offering eligible workers the fast-track to immigrate, with the formal support of the community.
