Fire Ban

April 11 2024

Mayerthorpe, Alberta, April 11, 2024

The Fire Hazard Rating for Town of Mayerthorpe is EXTREME. As a result a complete Fire Ban has been issued, effective April 11, 2024 until further notice.

No new Fire Permits will be issued, and all existing Fire Permits are hereby cancelled.

The Fire Ban affects all burning, including cooking/warming fires (backyard fire pits).  This Fire Ban also includes camping areas, charcoal briquettes, deep fryers (e.g. turkey fryer), tiki torches, fireworks, wood fires in outdoor structures such as tee pees and gazebos and wood burning stoves inside tent like structures.

 

Propane/powered firepits and wood pellet smokers are permitted.

 

Please report any wildfire to 9-1-1.  Provide the exact location to assist Town of Mayerthorpe fire services in locating and extinguishing these fires in a timely fashion.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
